Background
Academic literature and fiction are distinct from each other, but would there be a possibility to connect between the two? I research on academic literature focusing on socioeconomic issues that affect first-generation students and how they can be expressed into a work of creative fiction. By illustrating the feelings and emotions of a character who is a first-generation student in my story, this is in a way of trying to understand the experiences of a first-generation student as an outsider. My aim is to connect the seemingly different worlds between fiction and academia in the experiences and issues of first-generation students.
